I have no idea who you are so thank you very much and feel free to reveal your self or not, but I would love to know who you are. Happy Holidays to you and thanks again. This was so much fun.

Hosting my First Challenge and a contest!

THE DARLING DAUGHTERS READING CHALLENGE!

I've finally decided to host my own challenge after thinking about it for over a year. I know that alot of challenges are starting up for the new year but I just can't wait any longer. Have you noticed, like I have, how many book titles are: something, something..."daughter". The so and so's daughter, daughter of the ....? Well, I have three wonderful beautiful daughters, one who turns 18 in May and that got me to thinking about all these daughters. How do they all turn out? Join me in finding out as I read as many books with the word daughter in the title as I can for this challenge. I'll have prizes along the way but I'm not sure when or for what just yet. Here is the basic information for now:

Name of Challenge: The Darling Daughters Reading Challenge

Dates: Today Dec. 8, 2009 to Oct. 3, 2010 (That's one of my daughter's birthday and it finishes us up before the fall/holiday challenges start)

Levels: Try to read at least one a month but there are no rules really, I'll keep it simple but if you read more than 12 you will be crowned Mother Superior and be entered into a special prize drawing at the close of the challenge.

Sign Up: For now just leave a comment for this post and I will try to learn how to set up a Mr. Linky and/or a whole new blog just for this challenge.

A Contest: For anyone who likes to make buttons, make me a button for this challenge and email it to me at tokemise@hotmail.com, if I pick your idea you will win a prize and of course get all the credit for your wonderful design!

Any questions just ask, this is my first challenge so I might have forgotten some stuff.

Here is a list of just a few of the book titles I plan to read:

The Englishman's Daughter

The Heretic's Daughter

Daughter of York

The Hummingbird's Daughter

The Pirate's Daughter

The Apothecary's Daughter

Don't Worry--Santa's on his way.

I know I was supposed to try and have my package in the mail already but due to some family stuff I wasn't able to. But, if you are one of the people still waiting for a package--I just might be your secret Santa---don't worry it went in the mail today and will be to you soon because we live on the same coast. Watch your mail everyone.

Can you recommend something?

I need help! My current reading has taken me to France during the Revolution and I am lost there. Please send me some ideas of what to read both non-fiction and historical fiction set during the French Revolution. There are just to many to pick from and if you have already read and know what is not worth my time and what is, that would be great. Most of the time I don't get alot of response to my questions on my blog but I would really appreciate some help. Thanks in advance.

Is there anything new under the sun?

Over the past week I have finished three books. All of them got great reviews and were supposed to be really good. I found them to be merely ok. I don't have the knowledge to review writing style, plot design, and other technical stuff I just review by giving my feelings and opinions. These three books may have been written well and the stories told were interesting enough but I had them all figured out before the endings and found that there was nothing original or unique about them. It felt like I had read it all before. Now I am looking for something to read that is new, fresh, unique in either plot or setting or characters or...something. I hope to soon read Wolf Hall and Under the Dome and am hoping these will be what I'm looking for. The three books I just read were: Her Fearful Symmetry, South of Broad, A Quiet Belief in Angels. Again not bad books--but just didn't do much for me.
